About the Trainer

Nick earned his MA in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Elmhurst College in the spring of 2001.

In 1998, he earned his BA in Fitness Management and Physical Education. Nick finished his education graduating with honors and a member of Psi Chi, The National Honor Society for Psychology. He is also nationally certified with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (since 1995) as a Personal Fitness Trainer and Performance Enhancement Specialist. In addition, he is certified as an ASEP (American Sport Education Program) Leader Level Coach since 1996. During his twenty-five plus years as a personal trainer, Nick has worked with a very diverse population ranging from high school and college athletes, to several very determined and hard-working breast cancer survivors.

While the clients’ passions are the most important aspect for making fitness a regular part of their life…Nick brings his passions to his clients’ workouts as well. He is a black belt and began practicing martial arts almost thirty years ago. He was an amateur kick boxer and participated in the Chicago Golden Gloves boxing tournament in 1998. He incorporates his knowledge of boxing and kick boxing into his client’s training sessions. Another passion that Nick has taken to a higher level is running. In 2011, his racing season started off with an impressive finish (1:28:12) at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Half Marathon and ended with a 5k PR (17:56). And while he excels at short distances, Nick has completed three marathons including the 2011 Fox Valley Marathon and the 2001, 2011 Chicago Marathons.  He ran the 2001 Chicago Marathon in 3:46:24, with NO training (not recommended). He is also a competitive multisport athlete and has taken 1st place in his age group and 7th overall at the 2012 Galena Duathlon, 1st place in his age group and 7th overall at the 2013 Batavia Duathlon, 1st place in his age group and 4th overall at the 2013 Aurora Duathlon as well as 2nd place Masters and  9th overall at the 2013 Tinley Park Duathlon. Nick has also competed in several obstacle course races including the 2015 Tough Mudder in Richmond, Virginia.

Finally, Nick recognizes the struggles that his clients and many others have trying to balance their lives between work, family and personal time. The integration of his background and experience in health and fitness and psychology is a perfect blend for developing healthy and effective methods to put balance back in your life today!
